Carlo Sansolo (video artist/organizer):


One of the most creative visual artists who works mainly in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Besides making video works, he also contributes internationally to many activities about video art like organizing screening and festivals, writing etc. He runs with his partner Erika Fraenkel a group called "La Isle" and they organized the first international media art festival in Rio, "prog:ME".


Masayuki Kawai (video artist/organizer):


"Masayuki Kawai is one of Japan's most exciting video artists" (David Elliott). His video oriented activity have been reputed world-wide. His video works have been shown, nominated and awarded in over 25 countries, and included in many collections in the world. He lives and works in Tokyo and New York and tries to establish a new cultural scene based on a concept of "visual philosophy".

Vivid cityscape, mysterious computer graphics, social criticism, humor... Carlo Sansolo is an artist from Rio de Janeiro who keeps spreading exciting video works with freely creative usage of the visual and text. He also eagerly organizes many art projects.


In this salon in Apple Store Ginza, Tokyo, Masayuki Kawai introduces fresh movement of visual art. In the vol.1 we have a great multi-style video artist, Carlo Sansolo as our guest. Please come and see today's most exciting tide of visual art in Japan and Brazil.

 


Carlo Sansolo and Masayuki Kawai began exchange of their works in 2002, and in 2005 Sansolo invited Kawai to the festival "prog:ME" in Rio as one of the main artists.

This time Sansolo is coming to Japan for the first time to have a research on collaboration with Japanese artists.

 


We're going to show 2 artists works and have their talk.
